CPAA exists to act in the public interest by maintaining high professional and ethical standards among its members. Where those standards are not met, CPAA has a range of regulatory and disciplinary tools available to address non-compliance, protect the public, and uphold confidence in the profession.
This page publishes details of regulatory actions taken against CPAA members. The publication of outcomes is an important part of CPAA’s regulatory framework. It promotes transparency, deters poor practice, and reassures the public, clients, and other stakeholders that concerns are taken seriously and dealt with appropriately.
Regulatory action may take different forms depending on the nature, seriousness, and impact of the matter.
Fixed Penalties are available for certain breaches where the facts are clear and the matter can be dealt with proportionately without referral to a Regulatory Committee. Fixed Penalties may include financial penalties or other prescribed sanctions. Acceptance of a Fixed Penalty avoids further disciplinary proceedings, but the outcome is still published to ensure transparency.
Consent Orders are regulatory outcomes agreed between CPAA and a member, typically following consideration by the Conduct Committee. They are used where misconduct is admitted or clearly established, and where a full Tribunal hearing is not considered necessary in the public interest. Consent Orders may include sanctions such as reprimands, fines, conditions on practising certificates, or costs orders, and are published in full.
Tribunal decisions are reserved for the most serious or contested matters. Tribunals are convened by CPAA’s Tribunals Committee and may involve public hearings. Tribunals have the widest range of sanctions available to them, including suspension or removal from membership. Tribunal outcomes are published to provide full transparency and accountability.
Each published outcome reflects CPAA’s commitment to fair, independent, and proportionate regulation in the public interest.
No committee meetings are currently scheduled. Please check back to see details of upcoming meetings and details of how to attend any tribunals.
